How I got here
I started my career in a somewhat unexpected way. My first real IT job was installing Windows 10 devices at Sutter Health hospitals around the Bay Area during their OS refresh. I found it enjoyable and far more interesting than the many jobs I'd held before (ask me about them!). From there I moved to the helpdesk at Adobe, and after the pandemic hit I was doing IT and sysadmin work at a specialty pharmacy in San Carlos, where I deployed HIPAA-required tools and IT controls, including backups and LAPS.
Next I joined Wisk, an autonomous air taxi company, doing sysadmin and SaaS admin work. That's where learning Python paid off, since so many repetitive tasks could be automated. During the 2022 hiring boom I joined Sigma Computing, a Series C startup, where I grew my IT skills and eventually moved into security. It was a natural transition, and I had great colleagues who guided me and let me spread my wings. Python became essential again, for building custom connectors, managing data and systems, and writing Panther detections.
